Arithmetic Based Projects

Arithmetic pervades our modern society though it still mystifies some people and most others find it tedious. However there are many aspects of arithmetic that explore areas that can be both challenging and fun. One of the major advantages of arithmeic projects is that they are usually well suited to command line programs and require no special support such as that provided by a graphical user interface.
I encourage readers to send in arithmetic based problems that explore some of the byways of mathmatics rather than the obvious (and often trivial) fare served up by so many books.
